Liberty Grove is a vast, amenity-laden community of 682 single-family detached residences within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Plainfield, IL. Originally a 283-acre farmstead known as Farmington Village, the parcel was annexed into the Village of Plainfield in 1998 and subsequently developed between 2003 and 2010 as Liberty Grove by Cambridge Homes.

Ideally located just a half mile west of historic Downtown Plainfield’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district, Liberty Grove has the distinction of being the largest single-family detached home development within the Village of Plainfield’s corporate boundaries, both by number of dwellings and by population, with approximately 3,000 residents calling Liberty Grove home.

The community is one mile long, bounded by IL Rt. 126 on the south and 143rd St. on the north, and is approximately ½ mile wide, beginning ¼ mile west of Wallin Drive and terminating ¼ mile east of Steiner Road. With homesites ranging between 8,400 and 11,800 square feet, dwellings ranging in size between 1,908 and 3,910 square feet, and over 40 unique home styles and floor plans, there is a home in Liberty Grove to satisfy virtually anyone’s needs, tastes, and preferences.

The community includes many recreational amenities, all of which are wholly owned and maintained by the Liberty Grove Homeowners Association for the exclusive and private enjoyment of its residents. For 2023, the Association Membership Fee is $588 per year (or $49 monthly) per dwelling. The Association boasts fully funded reserves, zero deferred maintenance and zero debt.

Liberty Grove’s exclusive privately-owned amenities include a 28-acre park at the southwest section, a 1.5-acre open field at the northeast section, and a 9-surface-acre pond which serves as both the community’s stormwater detention basin and a catch-and-release fisherman’s paradise.

The park site includes a fully equipped playground, a tot lot, and a large covered pavilion furnished with numerous picnic benches and B-B-Q grills. Several miles of paved paths with abundant park benches and trash receptacles meander throughout the meticulously maintained public areas of the community for pleasurable strolling, jogging, and cycling.

Liberty Grove is also home to a private 5-acre aquatic center that operates from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September. The aquatic center is wholly owned by the Liberty Grove Homeowners Association. Electronically controlled access ensures the exclusive private use and enjoyment of Liberty Grove residents. The swimming pool has a zero-depth entry, two lap lanes, spray fountains, geysers, and a two-story water slide. The pool deck is tastefully furnished with numerous chaises, lounge chairs, picnic tables, and umbrellas. The clubhouse features abundant restrooms, showers, and changing areas. The aquatic center is operated under contract by Pool Guards, Incorporated, one of Chicago’s premier, full-service, turn-key pool management companies.

A 16-acre carve-out near the center of the subdivision is home to Lincoln Elementary, serving the needs of the K-5 students. Middle School students attend nearby Richard Ira Jones Middle School. High School students attend Plainfield North High School.
